CASE STUDY:

SHORTS IN THE CITY

Bringing live in-app TV streaming to the iPhone and iPad for Canada’s largest communications and media company

CONCEPT

Early on in the mobile game, Rogers Media wanted an app for one of their Television programs. We conceptualized and created two apps - one for iPad and one for iPhone - which broadcasted mobile optimized video feeds with unique interfaces for both viewing experiences.

OVERVIEW

This project with Rogers Media was to create iPad and iPhone apps for their television program, Shorts in the City. Over and above optimizing the apps' video feeds for mobile to ensure a full viewing experience, we needed to integrate with Rogers’ various, complex backend systems and CMS.

To do this as seamlessly as possible, we developed two user friendly video iPhone and iPad interfaces, which allowed users to easily browse by category, new releases, viewing history, etc.

As a part of our plan to encourage repeat usage, we allowed users to share their favourite videos across multiple social networking outlets, creating a social buzz around the app and the program.
